ORWELL, Vt. – The Mount Independence State Historic Site in Orwell, Vermont, has been chosen by Heritage Preservation to participate in the 2007 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP). A professional conservator will visit Mount Independence this fall and will prepare a comprehensive report identifying conservation priorities for the collection of Revolutionary War artifacts.
Mount Independence joins the 2,400 museums in the United States that have participated in CAP since the program began in 1990. John Dumville, Vermont’s historic sites operations chief, says “Other state historic sites have benefited by CAP assessments, and we look forward to this assessment at Mount Independence to help us manage our collection.”
